A Strange Encounter on Highway 12

In June 2017, a motorist travelling along Highway 12 in Tay Township, Ontario, reported an extraordinary encounter with a large, shaggy, brownish creature that crossed the highway directly ahead of the vehicle.

The incident occurred at approximately 11:40 a.m. on a clear, sunny morning. The witness was returning from a local Shell gas station and travelling at approximately 85 km/h when something unusual emerged from the right side of the highway.

According to the witness, the creature suddenly galloped across the road from right to left, moving with remarkable speed.

The witness described it as resembling a giant, long-legged monkey, covered in shaggy brownish hair. Its arms were exceptionally long, appearing capable of reaching nearly to the centreline of the highway as it crossed.

The sighting took place near the area of Granny White Road and Caswell Road, close to Highway 12.

Although the encounter was brief, the witness maintains a vivid memory of the creature's appearance, its unusual proportions and the way it moved across the road.

Another vehicle was approaching from the opposite direction at the time. The witness believes the creature's crossing was timed almost perfectly between the approaching vehicles.

What stood out was not simply the creature's size but its unusual galloping movement and exceptionally long arms.

Returning to the Area

Rather than dismissing the experience, the witness became increasingly interested in the surrounding area and eventually identified what they believe to be a location associated with the creature's movements.

Of particular interest was the nearby Tay Shore Trail, a recreational walking and cycling route that follows portions of a former CN railway corridor and forms part of the Trans Canada Trail network.

The witness had spent considerable time bicycling along this trail and began paying closer attention to activity in the surrounding wooded areas.

Over time, the witness reported collecting numerous photographs, video recordings and audio recordings that they believe may document additional unusual activity.

The witness also conducted several personal experiments, including placing a bowl and a coffee jar containing almonds in selected locations. According to the witness, these experiments produced results they considered significant.

The exact nature of those results has not yet been established in the information provided to Ontario Bigfoot.

Photographs, Video and Audio

One particularly interesting aspect of this report is the witness's claim of having collected a considerable amount of visual and audio material following the original highway encounter.

The witness reports possessing still photographs, video footage and sound recordings from the area around the Tay Shore Trail.

These materials could be valuable in understanding the witness's subsequent experiences, although their contents and significance would need to be examined before any conclusions could be reached.

The witness has expressed a willingness to share selected recordings and photographs for review and discussion.

They have also emphasized that their material is genuine and has not been artificially generated.

A Witness Who Prefers Privacy

The individual who submitted this account has made it clear that they prefer to remain out of the public spotlight.

Although willing to discuss the experience privately and share material with interested researchers, the witness is not interested in participating in podcasts or public appearances.

Ontario Bigfoot respects that decision.

Many individuals who report unusual wildlife encounters have no desire for publicity. Their willingness to share information privately can still contribute to a better understanding of reported Sasquatch activity across Ontario.

Ontario Bigfoot Research Notes

This account is especially interesting because the original sighting reportedly occurred in broad daylight, under clear weather conditions, along a travelled provincial highway.

The witness's description of a large, shaggy, brownish creature with unusually long arms and a galloping movement is a notable detail.

The proximity of the Tay Shore Trail and its surrounding wooded areas also provides a geographical point of interest for future examination.

At present, the highway encounter remains an eyewitness account. The additional photographs, recordings and reported experiments are separate claims that require examination before their evidentiary value can be determined.

There is currently insufficient information to establish whether the reported later activity is connected to the creature reportedly seen crossing Highway 12 in June 2017.

Nevertheless, the witness's detailed recollection of the event and continued interest in the area make this a report worth documenting.

Closing Thoughts

Nearly a decade after the encounter, the witness continues to remember the creature crossing Highway 12 on that sunny June morning.

Whether it was an unidentified animal, a misidentified known species or something not yet documented, the experience clearly left a lasting impression.

Ontario Bigfoot would like to thank the witness for coming forward, sharing this account and expressing a willingness to make additional material available for examination.
